The Supervisory and Pension Fund Development Authority (PFRDA) has issued new investment rules allowing, with immediate effect, which private pension funds invest in Gold and Silver ETFs. "Picky" capital: Pension money is not speculative; it is long-term accumulation capital (long-horizon). When pension funds buy, they tend to hold for decades. Systematic Flow: This creates an institutionalized and recurring demand. Instead of relying only on seasonal demand (marriage festivals), gold and silver will now have a bid (buy) constant coming from the retirement economies of the most populous nation in the world. The decision also allowed the expansion of the universe of investible shares from 200 to 250, but the real story is the inclusion of monetary commodities. No regulator opens this door without a long-term strategic vision. India is signaling that it sees Gold and Silver not only as culture or jewel, but as essential financial assets for the future solvency of its retirees. It's an institutional legitimization of metal against paper. Price Impact: If you think the current rally is speculative, wait until India's institutional money starts to allocate only 1% or 2% of its assets under management (AUM) in these ETFs. India has just lit the next wick of physical demand.This signals a strategic change.
