Solana Lifts Block Capacity to Manage More Traffic Solana has increased its block capacity by 20 percent in response to growing transaction volume. The change bumps the limit from 50 million to 60 million compute units per block, giving the network more room to process activity during busy periods. The update was proposed and approved under SIMD-0256 and went live on July 23. Why Compute Units Matter Compute units measure how much work a transaction requires. A simple token transfer takes up very little. Something more complex, like a multi-swap or an advanced DeFi interaction, uses more. The more units per block, the more transactions that can fit before things start ge…

Markets have opened the week with relatively subdued movements as players brace for tomorrow's major US CPI release. It will be the first US major data since past Tuesday's Services PMI which missed and sent the US Dollar into another round of downside correction. Since the US Weekly opening bell, Equity markets have failed to hold their overnight future highs as profit-taking sets ahead of the CPI data. For those who haven't taken a look, the Headline CPI is expected at a +0.2% print (to +2.8% y/y) and a core print of +0.3% to +3% year-over-year. Any beat (+0.1 %) will send markets ablaze, and participants may start to price out the September cut. You can check out s…

Over the past weeks, the altcoins’ season (or the altseason) seems to be the biggest narrative in the digital asset market, leading virtually all conversations amongst the crypto crowd. This narrative is beginning to feel even more organic due to the strong performances of the largest altcoins, ETH and XRP, in recent weeks. Ethereum, the “king of altcoins,” has been on a relatively significant run in the last two months, reclaiming the $4,000 mark for the first time since December 2024. Meanwhile, the price of XRP has returned above $3, surging by more than 10% in the past week. However, the latest on-chain observation points that the altcoin season might only just be w…

Century Aluminum (NASDAQ:CENX) announced Thursday it plans to restart over 50,000MT of idled production at its Mt. Holly smelter in South Carolina. The company said it will invest approximately $50 million in the effort, creating over 100 new jobs and boosting US domestic aluminum production by almost 10%. The restart will enable the plant, currently operating at 75% capacity, to achieve full production by June 30, 2026, a level not seen since 2015. The restart, it said comes as a direct result of President Trump’s application of Section 232 tariffs for primary aluminum, most recently increasing the tariffs to 50% on aluminum imports without exceptions or…

Last Friday’s US July Employment Situation release has delivered the kind of statistical jolt that rarely shows up outside crises, forcing traders to re-evaluate both the macro outlook and Bitcoin’s near-term path. Payrolls grew by just 73,000, but the shock lay in the record-large negative revisions: May and June were marked down by a combined 258,000 jobs, slicing the three-month hiring average to 35,000 and erasing nearly all of the second-quarter’s reported momentum. The Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that revisions of that magnitude have been seen only during the Covid collapse. Is Bitcoin Really Facing A Black Swan Event? Bloomberg Economics chief US economist An…

The energy commodity hasn't had its best performance this year. Oil got caught in the mix of many geopolitical headwinds between large supply from OPEC+ for internal reorganization (they want to force out some producing countries of the organization), Russia flooding the Market to pay for its war, downward revised global outlooks and tensions in the Middle East. Such volatile events are tough to predict and their effects are even tougher to predict – But one thing stands: Oil always found sellers during the first 8 months of this year. Now, Trump and Putin are supposed to meet in person ahead of a deadline that would impose gigantic tariffs on Russian exports as a mena…

Desert Gold Ventures (TSXV: DAU) is proposing a modest project compared to peers in junta-led Mali to build on smaller costs and scale. SMSZ has an after-tax net present value of $24 million and the after-tax internal rate of return would be 34%. SMSZ is about 460 km west of the capital Bamako. “With less that 10% of the SMSZ project’s gold resources incorporated into this study, there is tremendous opportunity to improve project economics and materially grow this …

In the shadow of Quebec’s Abitibi Greenstone Belt, just west of Val-d’Or, lies a mine that built an empire, LaRonde. To the casual observer, it looks like any other shaft: headframes, processing plants, and tailings ponds. But in Canadian mining, LaRonde is more than infrastructure. It’s where persistence, risk, and geology combined to shape a company. The humble beginnings: Dumagami days Before it became LaRonde, the site was known as Dumagami, a modest underground operation that few believed could be a major producer. The mineralization was promising, but the complexity kept larger players away. By the late 1980s, under General Manager Ebe Scherkus, Dumag…

The US markets have seen a surge of digital coins. Millions of Americans now hold tokens in their wallets. Blocking all of it suddenly would be nearly impossible. At the same time, leaving this sector with no rules puts everyday investors in harm’s way. Why Ban Is Off The Table According to Bloomberg columnist Matt Levine, outright banning crypto is off the table. He points out that tens of millions of people own digital assets today. Pulling the plug now would ripple through trading platforms, payment apps, and even major Wall Street firms. Levine argues that such a move would simply drive innovation and jobs offshore. Hostile Past Still Looms Under former SEC Chair …
