Anglo American (LON: AAL) Chile’s state-owned copper miner Codelco have sealed a landmark deal to jointly operate their neighbouring mines in central Chile, unlocking at least $5 billion in value. The agreement combines Anglo’s Los Bronces and Codelco’s Andina mines, creating a new mining district outside Santiago. The partnership is expected to generate an additional 2.7 million tonnes of copper over 21 years, once permits are secured, which are anticipated by 2030. Andina, one of Codelco’s smaller operations, produced 181,600 tonnes of copper last year. Los Bronces, a key operation for Anglo American, yielded 172,400 tonnes. Codelco already holds a 20% stake…

The pound reacted with a slight decline to the Bank of England's decision to keep the interest rate at 4%. The regulator also left open the prospect of a further rate cut later this year due to growing concerns about a resurgence of inflation. The Monetary Policy Committee voted 7–2 on Thursday to keep rates unchanged. Swati Dhingra and Alan Taylor, long-time supporters of a dovish stance, backed another quarter-point cut. Economists had expected such a decision and a split vote. In its accompanying statement, the Bank of England noted that inflation remains above the 2% target and that there is a risk of further acceleration. The regulator also stressed that it is close…

From a technical standpoint, repeated bounces from the key support zone of 1.3725–1.3720 and yesterday's breakout above the psychological level of 1.3900 can be viewed as a new catalyst for the bulls in the USD/CAD pair. Oscillators on the daily chart remain in positive territory and are far from the overbought zone. A break above the resistance level at 1.3850 would confirm the likelihood of continued upward momentum toward the psychological level of 1.4000. This level also coincides with the 200-day simple moving average (SMA), and a successful breakout above it would open the path for further continuation of the bullish trend observed over the past two weeks. In the ev…

The USD/CAD pair has been attracting buyers for the fifth consecutive day amid contrasting forecasts from the Bank of Canada and the Federal Reserve. The pair continues its upward movement for the fifth day in a row, marking the seventh positive session over the past eight days. The Canadian dollar remains under pressure amid expectations of further rate cuts by the Bank of Canada. On Tuesday, Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem stated that the central bank intends to support economic growth while keeping inflation under control. This undermines the Canadian dollar. The Bank of Canada's dovish stance contrasts sharply with the cautious comments from Federal Reserve Chair…

GBP/USD 5-Minute Analysis On Friday, the GBP/USD pair recovered significantly, so it is too early to write off the British currency. Over the past week and a half, the pound has gone through a rough patch, but we still believe this weakness will be short-lived. Even when all factors point in one direction, technical corrections are inevitable. Individual reports and events can trigger counter-trend movements, which, on lower timeframes, may appear as independent trends. This is precisely the kind of trend we are observing now on the hourly chart. On Friday, the pound was strongly supported by the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index. The indicator once agai…

History of U.S. Government Shutdowns Power Struggle As the September 30 funding deadline approaches, history may be about to repeat itself. The United States has faced several major government shutdowns in the past, and the odds are rising that another one could begin on October 1, 2025. Power Struggle A Look Back: History of Major U.S. Government Shutdowns 1995–1996: The Clinton Era During President Bill Clinton’s administration, budget disputes with Congress led to two shutdowns: November 14–19, 1995 (5 days) December 16, 1995 – January 6, 1996 (21 days) The standoff revolved around disagreements over Medicare, education, and spending cuts. EUR/USD 5-Minute Analysis On Monday, the EUR/USD currency pair moved upward and managed to break through the descending trendline. Further growth of the pair was capped by the 1.1750–1.1760 area, which has repeatedly acted as support or resistance for the price. Thus, at this point, it is still too early to be fully confident that the short-term downtrend has ended. Nevertheless, we have repeatedly noted that there have been no strong reasons for medium-term dollar growth. Over just the past few days, news has created a new fundamental basis for a decline in the U.S. currency. Donald Trump introduced new tariffs and announced plans to tax even the film industry. Expec…

Copper prices climbed to their highest level in more than a year on Thursday, fueled by mounting global supply disruptions and growing expectations that US interest rate cuts will support demand for the industrial metal. Benchmark futures on the London Metal Exchange (LME) briefly rose above $10,500 a tonne for the first time since May 2024, before trading at $10,497.50, up 1.1% as of 11:50 a.m. in London. Zcash (ZEC) has staged one of the sharpest recoveries of the quarter, vaulting roughly 160%–170% from late-September levels and briefly trading in the low-$150s on October 2 after spending much of 2024 and early 2025 suppressed in the $16–$20 corridor. There is no single on-chain or protocol-level catalyst that neatly explains the surge. Instead, a confluence of factors has seemingly pulled ZEC into the center of crypto’s attention cycle. First, the privacy theme itself has re-entered the conversation at the ecosystem level. Why Is The Zcash (ZEC) Price Surging? On October 1, the Ethereum Foundation formalized new leadership for its Privacy Cluster—an organizational, st…

AI rules the day! No matter how grim Donald Trump's threats of mass layoffs, warnings from Scott Bessent about a U.S. economic slowdown, or even the ADP private sector jobs report may seem, the S&P 500 still managed to notch its 30th record high of the year. Leading the northbound herd are the tech giants. Deals between OpenAI and Samsung Electronics, as well as SK Hynix, sparked a swift rebound in the broad equity index after a dip early in the session. Performance of Tech and Other Sectors in the S&P 500 A 45% rally in tech stocks since the April low doesn't look like a bubble — at least according to Bank of America. The bank recommends that its client…

Investors bracing for the next big silver squeeze may soon get their wish, according to TD Securities, as the bank sees the market approaching a tipping point due to the depletion of inventory in London. In a recent note, commodity strategists led by Daniel Ghali warned that free-floating stockpiles in London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) vaults have reached a “critically low level”, as seen in the rising lease rates for silver metal, which have entered what he calls “extreme” territory. The LBMA inventory, he adds, could be completely drained within months if investor demand continues to stay high. One catalyst, as Ghali points out, is strong buying activ…

A sharp debate has opened inside the XRP community over whether the token could ever reach the kind of eye-popping prices some enthusiasts imagine. Numbers and theory are being thrown around. Practical limits are being argued right back. Market Cap Math And Limits According to reports, the numbers make a simple point: with a circulating supply of close to 60 billion XRP, a price of $1,000 would value the token at about $59.91 trillion. That total would more than double the market cap of gold and top many of the biggest assets on earth. Some analysts use that math to say such prices are not realistic any time soon. Their argument rests on a basic idea — money supply an…

Even though Bitcoin reached a new all-time high over the weekend, crossing above the $125,700 mark, Swissblock reports record-breaking BTC outflows from exchanges. The last time such a large outflow was observed was in December 2022. However, at that time, Bitcoin was at its bottom near $15,000. Now, the situation is the opposite—it is trading near its all-time high. This paradox requires deeper analysis. Clearly, Bitcoin holders are not in a rush to take profits despite favorable market conditions. Instead, they see BTC as a long-term asset and prefer to store it off-exchange, in cold wallets. This behavior indicates confidence in further growth. Another possible expla…

Ethereum (ETH) is trading at critical levels after a sharp rally from $3,800 to $4,700 in just a few days, marking one of its strongest moves in recent months. The swift rebound highlights renewed strength from bulls, who now appear firmly in control of the market’s short-term direction. As ETH approaches key resistance zones, analysts are closely watching whether the second-largest cryptocurrency can sustain its momentum and confirm a breakout above the current range. This impressive move is not just driven by market sentiment but also by robust on-chain fundamentals. Institutional participation in Ethereum continues to rise, with inflows from funds and treasuries stea…
