NexGen Energy (TSX, NYSE: NXE) (ASX: NXG) announced Wednesday it has secured a new offtake contract with a major US-based utility for the delivery of 1 million lb. of uranium per year over a five-year period. Shares of the company rose. This agreement follows the first sales contracts announced in December 2024 for the supply of 5 million lb. of uranium to multiple US nuclear utility companies. The new contract, says NexGen, would double its existing contracted volumes to a total of 10 million. It includes market-related pricing mechanisms that provide “significant leverage” to future prices at time of delivery. The deal, it adds, reflects the “significant mat…

Dogecoin has now entered the longest period below its all-time high in its history—over 1,550 days and counting—with crypto analyst VisionPulsed warning that while a breakout may eventually come, the asset remains locked in what he calls a “bearish forever” pattern. In his August 6 video update, VisionPulsed provided a sobering macro-to-micro analysis of Dogecoin’s price action, underscoring the asset’s historic underperformance compared to other large-cap cryptocurrencies. “We’re now setting a Guinness World Record for most days below the all-time high for Dogecoin,” he remarked. “First cycle was 1,200 days, second cycle was 1,126. Right now, we are at a staggering 1,55…

Upset you didn’t buy that dip last week? With Uncle Trump in charge, making money in crypto isn’t even hard anymore, and now we’re finally seeing the Trump 401K crypto play come into focus. President Donald Trump has moved to expand what Americans can hold in their retirement accounts, signing an order that could bring crypto, private equity, and real estate into 401(k) plans for the first time at scale. About 90 million savers could be affected. “This executive order supports our efforts to improve flexibility and eliminate unfair one-size-fits-all approaches,” Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said. Even if the allocation to crypto is a measly 0.5% of the average n…

Bitcoin’s famously noted four-year cycle, previously tied to its halving occurrences, could be losing prime market driver status, according to some top experts. For decades, the halving—a built-in reduction of miner compensation every four years—had been preceded by sharp spikes and precipitous drops in price. Now, however, the market is more subject to the influence of institutional money, regulated investment products, and general economic forces. Halving’s Control Fades As Rivals Gain Strength Pierre Rochard, CEO of The Bitcoin Bond Company, noted the halving’s supply shock is much lower now compared to Bitcoin’s early days, where the majority of the coins were sti…

There is a beautiful storm brewing that could shape the direction of the crypto bull run in 2025 and beyond. This Friday (August 15), Donald Trump will meet with Vladimir Putin, and the leaders of their respective nations aim to bring about an end to the conflict in Ukraine. A positive outcome will likely send the crypto bull market into overdrive. On the crypto side, Sharplink Gaming (SBET), one of the leading publicly-traded Ethereum Treasury firms, has its Q2 earnings call, which investors will be keen to hear after the firm has amassed just shy of 600,000 ETH ($2.8 billion) since pivoting to its Ethereum Treasury strategy earlier this year. These two events taking p…

This week has been essential for the future course of action for both the Aussie and the US Dollar. After Tuesday's Royal Bank of Australia meeting, where the unanimous decision to cut rates by 25 bps to 3.60%, the Aussie had strengthened a tid-bit. Australian data following the meeting included Employment which largely came as expected and with the 4.2% unemployment rate, staying relatively flat, the RBA will be patient with its upcoming rate cuts – The next meeting will be on the On the other side of the Pacific, the US saw a reassuring CPI data on Tuesday right before these hopes got taken by yesterday's PPI report showing the first effect of tariff-led inflation. …

According to a new technical analysis, Bitcoin (BTC) and the broader crypto market could be mirroring historical post-halving cycle patterns. While the market has previously rallied through July and August, historical fractals point to a potential crash in September, followed by a push into a cycle peak later in the year. September Proves Risky For Bitcoin And Crypto Market A recent X social media post by crypto analyst Benjamin Cowen has highlighted a recurring pattern in Bitcoin’s price action that could have significant implications for the market over the coming months. His analysis shows that Bitcoin has consistently followed a post-halving cycle that exhibits di…

Overview: China's mainland markets re-opened after the extended holiday, and the by setting the dollar's reference rate little changed from its last fix helped inject a note of stability into the local Asian currencies. Indeed, most of them pulled back today, including the Taiwan dollar and the Malaysian ringgit. The yuan and yen are firmer. In fact, the yen's roughly 0.35% gain puts it atop the G10 scoreboard today, though more broadly, the greenback is mixed. There has been much speculation that the US could announce tariffs on semiconductors as early as tomorrow. While they are coming, we are skeptical about tomorrow. As we note below, the period for public commentary …

Log in to today's North American session recap - May 27, 2025 The US dollar was leading all majors today before the NZD took its spot, even after last evening's RBNZ cut by 25 bps. There was no major news today except for some employment in Europe, FOMC Minutes that didn't provide anything new but more importantly the NVIDIA Earnings. There has been a mistake in the first report published indicating an EPS at $0.81 instead of $0.96! US indices closed down small on the day but Futures rallied back on the correction. Bitcoin lost some ground today though still remaining in the same range - more on this coming up through the morning session. BTC finishes the North-Americ…

Overview: The US dollar has steadied today after yesterday's shellacking that saw it fall to new multiyear lows against the euro and sterling and 10-year lows against the Swiss franc. The news stream is somewhat more supportive today, with trade deals said to be in the works, in addition to the confirmation/clarification of an agreement with China. The US got an exemption from the OECD's Pillar 2 corporate tax reform, and the onerous "revenge tax" of Section 899 of the budget proposal will be dropped. There is talk that the postponement of the so-called reciprocal tariff may be extended for the current deadline of July 9. While the greenback has steadied it has found litt…

After the beginning of last week's big push in Altcoins, cryptocurrencies are seeing some kind of retraction from their recent highs. Bitcoin and Ethereum, however, are still consolidating around their relative peaks, underscoring the resilience of the market’s bellwethers. Profit-taking has rippled across smaller tokens, with mid‑cap altcoins sliding 5–10 % as traders lock in gains after their consequent past week rallies. Bitcoin is whipsawing in a tight $115,000–$120,000 band, while Ethereum hovers just below the $3,800 mark, digesting its latest red-hot rally. Meanwhile, heavyweights like Cardano (ADA) and Solana (SOL) have given back their gains a bit more sharpl…

Most Read: S&P 500 shows a decline after the US Services PMI miss Gold prices have seen whipsaw price action today with a $30 drop being wiped away after the US open. Part of this could be down to another poor US data point which will only add to rate cut bets moving forward. The US ISM Services PMI dropped to 50.1 in July 2025 from 50.8 in June, falling short of the expected 51.5. This shows the services sector barely grew, with seasonal and weather issues affecting business. There was a slowdown in business activity (52.6 vs 54.2), new orders (50.3 vs 51.3), and inventories (51.8 vs 52.7). Meanwhile, price pressures increased to their highest level since October 202…

After a solid Q4 204 that was only tainted by the correction of H1 2025, it is only right to ask: Is crypto a good investment? The right or wrong answer continues to spark debate with pessimism now that Bitcoin has been steadily selling off in the past few days, dropping to as low as $112,000. Even with the recent contraction, investors and skeptics should remind themselves that BTC ▼-0.86% and some of the best cryptos to buy were among the top-performing products in the global financial market. In August, Spark (SPK) and Zora (ZORA) were noteworthy performers, adding 300% in roughly one month and 700% in two months, respectively. ZORA2PriceZORA224h7d30d1yAll time The…

The cumulative total in use by data centers could top 4.3 million tonnes by 2035. This comes on top of surging demand from other sectors, such as power transmission and wind energy, where copper usage is expected to almost double by 2035. Price pressures ahead With demand accel…

Crypto news today reflects a sharp downturn triggered by rising global tensions and unexpected policy moves. The Bitcoin price plunged below $101,000 for a moment, and ETH USD sank under $3,300 before slowly climbing back to $3,800 amid a wave of liquidations. This came right after a dramatic announcement of new China tariffs from the one and only US President, the big Donald Trump. The US requires 100% duties on Chinese tech imports, which intensified risk-off behavior across both crypto and equities. DefiLlama reports $47 billion in daily perpetuals volume and $33 billion in DEX trading as another sign that crypto interest hasn’t vanished. With ETH USD climbing and…

Is it just a matter of time before the impact of tariffs hits data? The Tariff Lag: Waiting for the Data to Bite If I said on April 2, when President Trump announced reciprocal tariff details, that two months later stocks would be rallying, bonds consolidating, inflation data tame and employment holding up, you would have tossed me into a room, locked the door and threw away the key. Either markets are trading in a fantasy land or they see something I don’t see beyond the horizon or this is just the calm before a data storm surprise. A Delayed Tariff Impact Tariffs don’t hit overnight. What we’re likely seeing is a distortion of current economic data, influenced by bus…
