Teck Resources (TSX: TECK.A; NYSE: TECK) said a mechanical issue at its Carmen de Andacollo open-pit mine in Chile will force production to be halted for about a month. The unplanned downtime – caused by a maintenance shutdown of the SAG mill – will have no material impact on 2025 output, Teck said Monday in a statement. Carmen de Andacollo will mitigate the effect of the interruption by rescheduling some plant maintenance work to coincide with the halt, Teck said. Teck said it expects Carmen de Andacollo, which accounts for about 10% of consolidated 2025 copper output, to produce 45,000 to 55,000 tonnes of the metal this year as forecast. One month of unplann…

A surge of stablecoin transactions marked May as a standout month for the crypto sector. It moved beyond mere token swaps. Lots of people and services turned to dollar-pegged coins for moving value. Activity hit fresh highs, hinting that stablecoins are now the main channel for on-chain payments. Spike In Wallet Activity According to Artemis data, more than 33 million wallets sent or received stablecoins during May. That’s a big jump compared with earlier months. It shows more folks are leaning on these digital dollars than on native tokens. Many traders, DeFi users, and everyday people tapped stablecoins to keep their funds tied to the US dollar. This wave of usage al…

Metals investor Cobalt Holdings has dropped plans of an initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange, dashing investor hopes of what would’ve been the biggest mining IPO since 2022. The company previously aimed to raise as much as $230 million through the offering and use most of the funds to buy 6,000 tonnes of physical cobalt from Glencore (LON: GLEN) at a discount. The IPO launch represents Cobalt Holding’s strategic play to capitalize on a struggling market that has been in three consecutive years over oversupply despite healthy demand, which drove the metal’s price down by 75% over the past three years. The company, headed by mining entrepr…

Facebook owner Meta’s 20-year deal with Constellation Energy (Nasdaq: CEG) to buy output from its Clinton nuclear plant in central Illinois bolsters the long-term case for uranium producers, analysts said. Starting in June 2027, Meta is to receive about 1.12 gigawatts from Constellation, which represents the entire output from Clinton’s reactor, the companies said late Tuesday in separate statements. Future modifications will boost Clinton’s output by 30 megawatts, they also said. The plant’s current capacity is enough to power about 1 million homes. Meta’s decision to sign with Constellation “is indicative of not only the need for power, but the desire of these h…

The week had started on a relatively calm note in for currency markets as markets had been bracing for the US CPI release that came out this morning. Last week finished on a broadly positive note as Non-Farm Payrolls beat which gave some relief to a US Dollar that was selling heavily throughout the past week, with the DXY marking lows at 98.35 before consolidating higher. However, this morning's miss on the Inflation data, particularly on the Fed's favorite Core month-over-month (0.1% vs 0.3%) sent the Dollar Index lower and it is currently retesting last week's lows. The Canadian Dollar on the other hand has been holding and is broadly unchanged on the week against ot…

Bitcoin Decline Wipes Out $500 Million In Open Interest According to a Quicktake post on CryptoQuant by contributor Amr Taha, BTC’s drop below $115,000 led to a sharp decline in open interest on Binance, which fell from $14 billion to under $13.5 billion. After weeks of consolidation within a tight range, Bitcoin has broken down below the crucial $115K level, reaching a local low around $112,200. This correction has sparked a divide among analysts and investors, with some viewing it as a healthy retracement that could set the stage for a continuation of the broader uptrend. Others, however, warn that this move might signal the beginning of a more extended bearish phase if key support levels fail to hold. Adding to the market’s uncertainty, top analyst Darkfost highlighted a significant shift in exchange activity. Data reveals that Bitcoin inflows to Binance have been steadily rising since early July, reversing a prolonge…

Earlier last week, the Ethereum price was retracing severely, giving up a fraction of the gains garnered from the previous bull rally. Despite this brief show of weakness, a crypto pundit forecasts that the leading altcoin may be on the brink of an explosive rally toward a new all-time high of $9,000. This bullish projection is based on the completion of a Broadening Wedge formation and an ongoing retest of the pattern’s upper boundary, which may now act as support. Ethereum Price Chart Signals Major Breakout According to the new technical analysis released by crypto market expert Gert van Lagen on X social media, Ethereum could be gearing up for a major breakout move, …

Bitcoin’s famously noted four-year cycle, previously tied to its halving occurrences, could be losing prime market driver status, according to some top experts. For decades, the halving—a built-in reduction of miner compensation every four years—had been preceded by sharp spikes and precipitous drops in price. Now, however, the market is more subject to the influence of institutional money, regulated investment products, and general economic forces. Halving’s Control Fades As Rivals Gain Strength Pierre Rochard, CEO of The Bitcoin Bond Company, noted the halving’s supply shock is much lower now compared to Bitcoin’s early days, where the majority of the coins were sti…

After an incredible rally that has put Ethereum on the path to possible new all-time highs, the altcoin is now facing something that could hinder its newfound path. This comes down to a CME gap that had formed on its way up, and historically, CME gaps tend to be filled before there is a bullish continuation. In this case, the CME gap is sitting almost 15% below its current price, and could mean that ETH is in for a crash. The CME Gap Waiting At $4,080 A crypto analyst has pointed out that the Ethereum price could be facing heavy resistance after rallying to levels not seen since 2021. There is also the formation of a CME gap that threatens to drag the price back down bef…

A morning soundbite from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent briefly rattled Bitcoin and crypto markets on Thursday before a late-day clarification restored the policy baseline: the United States won’t be sellers, and “budget-neutral” options to grow the country’s bitcoin stockpile remain on the table. Senator Cynthia Lummis swiftly framed the endpoint. “America needs the BITCOIN Act,” she wrote, calling the legislation the operative blueprint for expanding a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve without tapping taxpayers. In a Fox Business hit that ricocheted across X, Bessent said the government is “not going to be buying” additional bitcoin and added, “We’re going to stop selling th…

Ethereum’s rally stalled just 1.94% below its November 2021 all-time high of $4,878 before sellers forced a pullback. Now, ETH USD is trading near $4,450, retreating after a +29% climb in the past 30 days. The inability to break through resistance highlights the technical overhang that continues to cap upside momentum even as institutional flows remain a dominant driver of short-term performance. Greenland is urging the US and European nations to invest in its mining industry, cautioning that a lack of Western engagement may compel the Arctic territory to seek partnerships with China instead, says Naaja Nathanielsen, Greenland’s minister for business and mineral resources. “We want to develop our business sector and diversify it, and that requires investments from outside,” Nathanielsen said in an interview with the Financial Times on Tuesday. She emphasized a preference for collaboration with European and American partners, but noted that if they do not engage, Greenland would need to consider other options, including China. Greenland, a semi-autonomo…

There has been some violent moves around markets since yesterday's North-American session close. Between the misstep in Nvidia’s earnings release and renewed political tensions in the U.S, markets had plenty of fuel for volatility across the board. The USD gapped up on the news that the US Federal Court blocked the Trump's sweeping tariff policy - though volatility induces more volatility and the dollar is now the weakest currency on the day. The total crypto market cap is down nearly 5% to $3.44 trillion. Although Bitcoin remains the most dominant, controlling over 60% of the market share, it has trended lower, trading below $106,000 at spot rates.
