Drilling by Canada’s Soma Gold (TSXV: SOMA) at its Cordero mine in central Colombia returned a highlight result of 7.5 grams per tonne gold over six metres. That intercept, from 176.6 metres depth in hole RVICDDH-25-040, also cut 10.2 grams per tonne silver, Soma said Wednesday in a statement. Another hole, RVICDDH-25-042, returned 6.7 grams gold and 9.9 grams silver over 2.6 metres from 169 metres downhole. The results from the so-called Venus Gap zone extend the dip of the vein by about 135 metres, the company said. Cordero is part of a 410-sq.-km property located next to Aris Mining’s (TSX: ARIS) Segovia deposit. “Drilling in the Venus Gap zone continues to…

Perth-based cybersecurity specialist Matt Breuillac of Cyber Node Perth-based ethical hacker – or ‘white hat’ – is warning that some miners, mining contractors and energy companies and their service providers are currently easy to hack and they should be testing their protections against cyber-attack more rigorously. Log in to today's North American session Market wrap for September 19 Today’s story was one of cautious optimism for global trade, as both Washington and Beijing struck a more constructive tone. President Trump described the talks with Xi Jinping as “positive and constructive,” while adding that progress had been made on “several important issues.” That shift in rhetoric provided a relief bid across risk assets, even as broader market themes remained volatile. And despite all the classic diplomatic talk, Markets are still awaiting for actual concrete news but for now, we will content with the current words from Xi and Trump which don't sound too pessimistic overall. …

Bitcoin’s latest pullback has little to do with crypto-native flows and everything to do with the dollar, according to chief crypto analyst at Real Vision Jamie Coutts. Sharing two charts on X, Coutts argued that a rebound in the US Dollar Index (DXY) is briefly tightening global liquidity and pressuring risk assets across the board. “Bitcoin’s dip isn’t mysterious — it’s macro,” he wrote. Why Is Bitcoin Down? “The dollar’s rebound is tightening global liquidity. DXY is retesting 100–101 — a key resistance and natural mean-reversion zone after one of the sharpest declines in decades in 1H25. Positioning had become crowded on the short side, so a bounce was always likely…

The presidential election in South Korea is shaping up to be bullish for crypto, with both leading candidates waving the pro-crypto flag. This is good news for cryptocurrencies and crypto wallets alike. It’s been six months of political turmoil since South Korea’s parliament voted to impeach former President Yoon Suk Yeol following his attempt to impose martial law in December last year. Just two weeks later, Yoon’s replacement – acting-President Han Duck-soo – was also impeached. Tomorrow, however, voters will head to the polls to decide whether frontrunner Lee Jae-myung (Democratic Party) or his main rival Kim Moon-soo (People Power Party) will be the next president o…

South Korea is lifting crypto restrictions for venture companies on September 16, giving them easier access to financing avenues and tax breaks. According to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS), the measure comes in response to the growing global trust in the crypto sphere, combined with advancements in the user protection department. The decision comes seven years after the country restricted crypto in October 2018, amidst concerns about speculation influencing the market and the lack of proper investor security. The shift marks a long-awaited move that could bring South Korea at the forefront of crypto adoption, which could rally projects like Pepenode (…

Increased market penetration and adoption of stablecoins have put a damper on the South Korean CBDC plans. The country has applied brakes on its CBDC trial program that had been ongoing since April this year in the wake of stablecoin’s resurgence amidst political backing. The Bank of Korea (BoK) confirmed the current state of affairs in a statement given to Bloomberg on 30 June 2025, through a representative. Also, a senior representative of one of the seven banks participating in the South Korean CBDC trials informed a local publication that the central bank is holding back until it sees the government’s stablecoin strategy and how CBDCs might integrate with it. South Korea pressed pause on its central bank digital currency (CBDC) initiative, even as its new government pivoted toward promoting domestic stablecoins. Telling banks involved that introducing won-denominated stablecoins would be ‘desirable,’ South Korea’s central bank has slowed down on any progress towards a CBDC. In the meantime, Hong Kong is rolling out a regulatory framework for stablecoin issuance aimed at challenging U.S. dollar dominance and bolstering its own financial infrastructure. Both countries reinforce a common perception: crypto is here to stay, and you’ll need a top-notch crypto wallet like Best Wallet app to keep on top of everything. South Korea:…

South Korea is serious about its anti-money laundering laws, and as such, the Korean Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is all set to sanction crypto exchanges that are not following the protocols to the T. According to the regulatory body, not clamping down on companies that don’t follow protocols hurts the integrity of the country’s growing crypto market, which has gained political momentum in recent times. As of this moment, the FIU has already taken action against Dunamu, the parent company behind Upbit, Korea’s largest crypto exchange, recently acquired by Naver. Furthermore, it has inspected other big names, including Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit, and GOPAX, to see if …
