Tether, the entity behind the world’s largest stablecoin by market capitalization, USDT, has experienced a downgrade in its rating by S&P Global. This decision, made public on Wednesday, stems from what the agency describes as “persistent gaps in disclosure” and a growing allocation of “high-risk assets” within Tether’s reserves. The assets highlighted include Bitcoin (BTC), gold, corporate bonds, secured loans, and other investments, all of which entail various risks, including credit, market, interest rate, and foreign exchange vulnerabilities. Tether CEO Responds To S&P Downgrade In a recent research note, S&P Global detailed that this upgrade came as pa…

Tether is in talks to lead a $1.2 billion funding round for Neura Robotics, a German startup building AI-powered humanoid robots. The potential deal would value Neura between €8 billion and €10 billion, giving the crypto heavyweight a direct role in one of Europe’s most ambitious robotics projects. The scale of the round and the size of the valuation mark a clear step outside Tether’s usual territory. Neura Wants to Be the iPhone Moment for Robots Neura Robotics is not aiming small. The company’s roadmap includes manufacturing 5 million robots by 2030, with an initial focus on industrial use and a longer-term push toward consumers. That kind of mass rollout puts it on a …

Tether is making a change to how it handles USDT on some of the older blockchains it once supported. Instead of freezing these tokens, the company is marking them as “unsupported.” This applies to networks like Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand. Transfers Will Still Work If you’re holding USDT on any of these chains, you can still send and receive them. What’s ending is the ability to mint new tokens or redeem them directly with Tether. The reclassification keeps those older tokens functional while allowing Tether to focus on chains that are more widely used today. The move added roughly $1 billion to Tether’s holdings and pushed the firm’s Bitcoin stash to about $9.8 billion based on the market price. It was one of the biggest single top-ups to its BTC balance this year. Quarter-End Buying Pattern Based on reports, the timing of the buy was not random. Blockchain records show Tether has made similar quarter-end additions in September 2024, December 2024, and March 2025. Analysts say the pattern points to a deliberate effort to bolster reserves ahead of public attestations. Tether’s second-quarter attestati…

Tether has confirmed that its USDT stablecoin, worth over 167 billion dollars, is finally launching natively on Bitcoin. This won’t be through a sidechain or wrapped version; instead, it’s happening directly through something called the RGB protocol. That gives Bitcoin a whole new role in the stablecoin world. RGB Lets Bitcoin Do More RGB is what makes this all possible. It keeps most of the data off-chain but locks in proof of ownership on Bitcoin itself. That way, the blockchain stays lightweight and fast while gaining some real flexibility. You’re still using Bitcoin at the core, but now it can carry extra functionality without changing the base layer. A Simple W…

Tether minted 1 billion in USDT on Wednesday, a move that market watchers say added fresh liquidity to crypto markets already moving higher. Based on reports, the total crypto market cap bounced from an intraday low near $3.80 trillion to about $3.90 trillion on the same day, while Bitcoin traded around $112,300 and Ether reclaimed levels near $4,600. Tether is the lynchpin of crypto. Yes, there are many controversies, specifically those questioning its reserves. Still, time and time again, even during extreme market volatility, including the destruction that happened on October 10, USDT stood firm. Not so much can be said about new entrants, mainly USDe, which temporarily depegged. As of November 7, USDT is still the largest stablecoin by market cap and trading volume. With over $183Bn of USDT in circulation, it is easy to say Tether, which is the issuer, determines the pulse of crypto. Tether, the issuer behind the leading stablecoin, USDT, has made headlines by acquiring $1 billion worth of Bitcoin—approximately 8,800 BTC—during the third quarter of this year. While many investors have reacted positively to this significant investment, caution has emerged from industry experts like Jacob King, CEO of SwanDesk, who warns that this move may contribute to what he believes could be the “largest bubble in history.” Bitcoin’s True Value Could Be Below $1,000 In a recent post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), King raised serious concerns about the Bitcoin market, claiming that 80-90% of the total buy volume is artificially inflated. Texas’s battle with Bulgaria is more than a headline; it’s a flashpoint in the evolving world of stablecoin crypto diplomacy.
