Week in review – Markets remain very anxious This week finally saw the US government reopen after the longest ever government shutdown, which lasted 43 days. News of the deal initially brought a much-needed rally in stocks on Monday, but throughout the week, markets have been plagued by sudden selloffs without much explanation. As explained in our last weekly outlook, participants remain anxious on themes of high valuations, particularly as key participants like Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang issued warnings on US policies and regulations that he believes will restrain progress in AI. Huang stated that China is only "nanoseconds behind America in AI". Many doubts remain …

From September this year, large mining and metals companies with business activities in the UK will be subject to a new “failure to prevent fraud” (FTP) offence. Introduced under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA), FTP applies to fraud committed by persons “associated” with a firm, where that offence is intended to benefit the organisation or its customers. “Associated persons” can be employees, agents or subsidiaries of a firm, and include those who perform services on behalf of the business. The use of local agents and third-party service providers, to perform functions such as investigating opportunities, liaising with governmen…

Log in to today's North American session Market wrap for August 21 Since last week, Markets have been dawdling around in the search for further headlines concerning any of these three subjects: A resumption of Federal Reserve cuts, any concrete news relative to peace in Eastern Europe and any news concerning the US state of employment. Indeed, the Federal Reserve's pause and Trump's tariffs are not generating any kind of volatility anymore, so the desperate research for more news is leaving volatility in a limbo. Participants, in the typical summer-break trading, have been trading in lower volumes these past few weeks awaiting for Powell to say anything concrete at his…

TRON’s token TRX has barely budged despite a flurry of on‑chain action. Traders saw a 5% gain over the past week and a measly 0.50% uptick in the last 24 hours. But behind those mild price moves, there’s a storm of activity that could shape how TRX fares in the days ahead. Surge In On‑Chain Activity According to data from Artemis, daily transaction counts shot up to over 9 million, up from 7.5 million the day before. That jump in numbers sent active addresses soaring. On‑chain participants climbed to 2.7 million, marking the highest level since June 6. Based on reports, much of this traffic appears tied to stablecoin transfers rather than new users or fresh investment.…

Understanding Forex Intervention Japanese Central Bank Intervention With the USDJPY climbing to its highest level since February, traders are watching closely for signs of how Japan’s new government might respond. Japan’s Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama recently delivered another strong verbal warning about currency movements, saying he remains “highly alert” to market fluctuations. His comments have fueled speculation that official intervention in the forex market could soon follow. When a country’s currency moves too far or too fast, governments often step in to influence the exchange rate, a practice known as forex intervention. However, intervention is a complex …

Understanding Forex Options Defense Paper Trading Options – a good start as any In the world of forex trading, not all market moves are driven by economic data or central bank policy. Sometimes, the real action happens around key options strike levels, where large institutional traders defend or attack prices to protect massive positions. Understanding how this process works can offer valuable insight and potential trading opportunities for those who know what to look for. The Role of Traditional Currency Options in the Spot Market While many new retail traders think of “options” as binary bets, traditional currency options, not binaries, are the ones that influence the…

In 2025 silver continues to stand out as a dynamic and multifaceted asset that plays a vital role in both investment portfolios and industrial applications. Often overshadowed by gold silver is gaining renewed attention as a metal that offers significant upside potential due to its relatively low price point and growing global demand. What makes silver unique is its dual nature as both a precious and industrial metal which creates price movement that is influenced not only by economic uncertainty but also by technological advancement. The global shift toward clean energy is a major driver of silver demand particularly through its essential use in solar panels electric ve…

Log in to today's North American session Market wrap for September 24 Today’s session saw a softer tone across equities, with decent profit-taking emerging as Rosh Hashanah (Shana Tovah!) holidays wind down, volumes come back and the Jewish calendar year begins. The pullback comes after a strong week for risk assets, with traders opting to lock in gains before fresh catalysts arrive. In terms of news flow, markets are still digesting the latest speeches from Powell and Trump’s UN appearance. Powell’s balanced remarks reinforced that the Fed is not rushing deeper into dovish territory, while Trump’s address sharpened focus on global energy and trade — with the most rec…

On Tuesday, Donald Trump announced that he has nearly decided on a candidate for the new Chair of the Federal Reserve. It is important to remember that Jerome Powell's term will expire in May 2026, and, under U.S. law, he cannot serve a second term. The President of the United States selects the new chair, and Congress must then approve the appointment. Given that Republicans control both chambers of Congress, there is no doubt that whoever Trump chooses will become the new FOMC director. Last summer, Donald Trump insisted on Jerome Powell's early removal. A campaign was launched to remove the current Fed chair from office. Trump wanted the FOMC to begin lowering interest…

Based on the previous analysis, it follows that in almost any case, Donald Trump will choose a candidate who can assure him of complete obedience or on whom Trump has leverage. Thus, it became clear last summer that it would definitely be someone from the inner circle of the White House leader. On Tuesday, reports indicated with high probability that Kevin Hassett, currently serving as the president's economic advisor, will become the new Fed chair. Hassett has repeatedly stated that he believes it is necessary to lower the interest rate to well below 3%. However, we may never know whose idea this was: Trump's or Hassett's. Regardless of who becomes the new head of the FO…

The past week brought a wealth of macroeconomic data from the United Kingdom, which, at first glance, seemed supportive of a renewed rally in the pound. The labor market report revealed some signs of weakness, particularly a slower pace of job creation compared to the previous month. However, the fact that wage growth remains stubbornly high is a strong inflationary factor. Elevated inflation, in turn, signals that the Bank of England will not be in a hurry to cut interest rates, allowing UK yields to remain relatively attractive. August GDP figures met expectations, and industrial production outperformed forecasts. Still, the third quarter outlook from the National Insti…

It has been a mixed year for DeFi, if total value locked (TVL) is the only metric to watch. DeFi protocols, including Uniswap, cumulatively manage over $122 billion at press time, roughly the same amount printed in January. Aave is still the king, with nearly $32 billion under management, while Lido and other liquid staking platforms dominate the top 10. Uniswap is the undisputed leader of DEX. With a presence in 39 chains, the swapping platform is the most adopted in the top 20. (Source: DefiLlama) Despite this otherwise superb growth, UNI crypto, the native governance token behind the mega DEX, is yet to reclaim 2021 highs. UNI crypto is perched in the top 50, flip…

Related Reading: XRP’s Next ‘Face-Melting’ Rally Could Hit Within 6 Weeks—Analyst The move marks Uniswap’s biggest reform since its 2020 token launch, designed to transform UNI from a passive governance token into a deflationary, yield-generating asset. Under the proposal, 0.3% of all trading volume will now be split between liquidity providers (0.25%) and a UNI buyback pool (0.05%), creating continuous demand for the t…

Uniswap (UNI) ripped higher on Tuesday after Uniswap Labs founder Hayden Adams unveiled “UNIfication,” a sweeping governance proposal that would activate protocol fees and route them into coordinated token burns. The structural shift—combined with a sharp change in how Uniswap’s teams are organized, igniting an extremely bullish sentiment, with CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju arguing that a real supply shock could be incoming. Uniswap (UNI) Supply Shock Incoming? “Uniswap could go parabolic if the fee switch is activated. Even just counting v2 and v3, with $1T in YTD volume, that’s about $500M in annual burns if volume holds. Exchanges hold $830M, so even with unlocks, a sup…

Mary-Catherine Lader just stepped down as President and COO of Uniswap Labs after a four-year run that transformed the platform into the biggest decentralized exchange on Ethereum. During her time at the helm, Uniswap went from scrappy startup to DeFi juggernaut, pulling in over $73B in trading volume in the last month alone. That number alone has crypto optimists buzzing. So what’s next? Well, as Uniswap looks for its next leader, the rest of DeFi is doing what it does best – evolving fast. New crypto projects are stepping up to fill the innovation gap and take decentralized finance to the next level. And in true Web3 fashion, it’s not just about serious finance anym…

United States Antimony Corp. (NYSE-American: UAMY) is planning to acquire Australia’s Larvotto Resources (ASX: LRV), a move that it says would make the combined company one of the world’s largest antimony producers outside China. Under a non-binding proposal submitted earlier on Monday, US Antimony would acquire the 90% of Larvotto’s shares that it does not own by issuing six of its own shares for every 100 Larvotto share. The offer implies a value of A$1.40 per Larvotto share, valuing the Australian miner at about A$722 million ($470 million). Days prior to the offer, USAC had already purchased 10% of Larvotto’s shares in the open market with cash, making it the …

United States Antimony (NYSE-A: UAMY) says it has been reacquiring mining claims next to its existing smelting operations in Montana since earlier this year, and is now ready to reboot mine operations in areas that have permits in place. These mining claims, US Antimony said, have a history of antimony production dating back to the 1970s, and are all situated in or around its operating smelter — the only antimony smelting facility in the country. Like with rare earths, the US has listed antimony as a mineral critical to its national and economic security. The grey-colored metal is used in a variety of high-tech and defence products, including flame-retardant mater…
