Placeholder VC’s Chris Burniske sees one of the best long-term setups for Bitcoin building in the background – but he is clear that the real opportunity likely lies lower, with a potential test of levels near $56,000 still ahead. On X, Burniske argues that the current sentiment environment is exactly what eventually produces outsized returns, while warning that it is still early for aggressive deployment. “There’s so much pessimism and short-term thinking on crypto assets these days that the R/R is tilting towards optimism and long-term, sized, high-conviction positions in distressed, public, cryptoassets,” he writes. “That said, the time isn’t yet now, imo.” Bitcoin Be…

After yesterday's major sell-off, Bitcoin has dropped to around $84,000, and the market is currently undergoing a correction that could evolve into something more interesting, provided there is at least some solid fundamental reasoning behind it, which has been difficult to find lately. Meanwhile, the chief banking inspector of the Federal Reserve, Michelle Bowman, stated in an interview that she plans to establish new rules for banks and stablecoins to ensure healthy competition among Wall Street, fintech, and cryptocurrency companies. Bowman emphasized the need for a balanced approach that would not stifle innovation in the rapidly evolving fintech sector while ens…

December 1st became a black day for the cryptocurrency market: at the start of the Asian trading session, Bitcoin sharply dropped below the $88,000 mark, erasing all weekly gains and sending the market into freefall. The price crash triggered a mass liquidation of leveraged positions amounting to around $400 million within just one hour. Thousands of traders worldwide suffered losses, particularly holders of long positions, which accounted for 90% of the liquidated bets. Causes of the collapse and consequences According to Bloomberg, during the Sunday crash (which has unofficially been dubbed this on crypto forums), Bitcoin lost up to 4.3% of its value, falling to $87,0…

BTC USD has seen quite a bit of volatility lately. Especially yesterday, for some strange reason, when just under $1 billion got liquidated from the crypto market, $830 million of these being longs. Maybe that’s a sign that the sentiment is bullish? Or is it a sign that people are having a hard time shifting their bias? drops down to $70,000 or lower. Sayler came back with a claim about reserves being ready. What is moving the markets then? Over the past weeks, there has been mostly selling in the Bitcoin spot ETF. Although the Inflow chart looks close to where it was in the pre-April 2025 pump. Maybe there is hope. DISCOVER: Best …

For GBP/USD, the wave pattern still suggests the formation of an upward trend segment (bottom chart), but over the past few weeks it has become complicated and stretched out (top chart). The trend segment that began on July 1 can be considered wave 4—or any large corrective wave—since it has a corrective rather than impulsive internal structure. The same applies to its internal sub-waves. Therefore, despite the pound's prolonged decline, I still believe the upward trend remains intact. The downward wave structure that began on September 17 has taken the form of a five-wave a-b-c-d-e pattern and may now be complete. If that's the case, the pair is currently forming a new u…

In its latest market report, Fitch Solutions’ BMI has raised its tin price forecast for 2026 to $35,000/tonne from $32,000/tonne previously, as continued supply issues keep markets on edge in the face of steady demand from the semiconductor industry. Supply is dominated by Indonesia, where production and exports are being affected by delays in approving annual work permits. Indonesia has long been the world’s largest exporter and the flow of metal to world markets has been interrupted several times in the past when the government tightened production and export rules. Tin’s supply chain is not just beholden to Indonesia’s resource nationalism but also to that of…

The Federal Reserve’s decision to halt balance-sheet runoff comes as crypto pressure spreads across the market after a sharp weekend sell-off. As per Reuters’ report, the central bank ended quantitative tightening on December 1. It will now roll over maturing Treasuries and reinvest mortgage-bond payouts into Treasury bills. The goal is to keep reserves “ample” as money markets in the United States show signs of strain. Bitcoin continues to trade below $90,000, struggling to recover after several days of heavy selling and aggressive long liquidations. Sellers keep pushing price lower, and bulls fail to reclaim momentum, creating a market environment filled with uncertainty and fear. Every attempt to bounce meets immediate resistance, showing how much control bears currently hold. Data shared by Axel Adler shows a clear shift in derivatives pressure toward buyers. The liquidation dominance oscillator now sits at 32%, one of its highest readings in recent years. This level signals that leveraged bulls keep taking the majority of the damage, with long positions consistently wiped out as v…

Despite a 9% recovery on Tuesday, Bitcoin (BTC) has experienced considerable volatility, with its price plummeting to as low as $84,000 just 24 hours ago. This downturn has had a significant impact on Strategy (previously MicroStrategy) the public company that holds the largest BTC reserves, currently boasting over 650,000 coins. Strategy T-Rex ETFs Plummet Nearly 85% NewsBTC reported that the company’s CEO, Phong Le, suggested the possibility of selling some of their Bitcoin holdings in light of the current market conditions. Alongside this, the company’s leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have also faced substantial losses, intensifying worries about Strategy’s f…

Ethereum fell more than 2% within 24 hours, sliding below $3,000 after losing its $2,900 support level. The drop triggered widespread liquidations, with around $500 million in long positions wiped out. Data shows that $79 million of the $106 million in ETH-focused contracts liquidated were long bets. Trading activity spiked sharply during the decline, with daily volume rising 200% to $33.2 billion. The broader crypto market also contracted, falling nearly 1.2% and erasing an estimated $1100 billion in value within hours. Bitcoin, SOL, XRP, and DOGE followed similar downward moves. Despite the volatility, some firms accumulated ETH during the downturn. BitMine Immersion…

Yesterday's inflation data for the eurozone prompted a series of comments from European Central Bank officials. However, in the currency market itself, the released report was largely ignored."The European Central Bank is not obliged to react to small deviations from the 2% inflation target. It should keep its powder dry so it can respond when there is a real need to change policy," said Governing Council member Martin Kocher in an interview. As a reminder, according to yesterday's data, consumer prices in the eurozone rose by 2.2% in November compared to the same period last year, higher than the 2.1% average level in the previous month and slightly above the median econ…

On the hourly chart, the GBP/USD pair has been trading horizontally over the past few days between price levels 1.3186 and 1.3270. Traders often ignore chart levels, and the pair remains in a sideways range. Yesterday, a rebound from the 38.2% retracement level at 1.3186 occurred, leading to a reversal in favor of the pound and a rise to the 50.0% Fibonacci level at 1.3240. Today, a rebound from this level would work in favor of the dollar and lead to a new decline toward 1.3186. A consolidation of the pair above 1.3240 would allow for continued growth toward the 61.8% retracement level at 1.3294. The wave structure has turned "bullish." The last completed downward wave …

Overview: The US dollar is under pressure today. Stronger European final PMI readings and a pullback in US yields have seen the greenback sold through last month's lows against several G10 currencies. And even where the data disappointed, like Australia's Q3 GDP or Switzerland's CPI, the currencies are bid. Led by central European currencies, most emerging market currencies are higher with Türkiye, Russia, India, and the Philippines the exceptions. Equities were mixed in the Asia Pacific region but are firmer in Europe, and US index futures are trading a little higher. Chinese shares in Hong Kong and the mainland fell by more than 1%, while the Nikkei and South Korea's K…

The XRP price is rebounding sharply as the broader crypto market slowly recovers from a months-long downtrend. Although XRP is still more than 43% below its all-time high, a market analyst has outlined what needs to happen before the cryptocurrency can rally again. The analyst has shared a rather blunt assessment of XRP’s recent performance, highlighting its vulnerability and weakened price action. XRP Price Rally Hinges On Bitcoin’s Recovery A crypto market expert identified as ‘Guy on Earth’ has issued a fresh warning on X, highlighting that the XRP price is currently sitting at precarious levels and “hanging on for its dear life.” His outlook was cautious as he state…

Appian Capital Advisory said on Wednesday it has provided a $150 million financing package to support the Atlantic Group’s buyout of a major gold mine from Barrick Mining (TSX: ABX, NYSE: B). In October, Atlantic Group — one of Africa’s leading private diversified holding companies — announced that it would acquire Barrick’s interest in the Tongon mine in Côte d’Ivoire in a deal worth up to $305 million. The transaction closed earlier this week, with Barrick receiving a $192 million cash payment, plus potentially another $113 million in cash payments tied to the price of gold and resource milestones. Appian said its funding package will include a commitment to a s…

The highly anticipated Fusaka Upgrade for Ethereum is on the verge of going live on Wednesday, heralding significant enhancements to the network’s overall functionality. Analysts contend that this pivotal development could usher in a considerable supply crunch for ETH, potentially boosting its price during a challenging period for the broader cryptocurrency market. Layer 2 Solutions To Boost ETH Burn According to analysts at Bull Theory, the Fusaka Upgrade integrates components from previous upgrades—Osaka, Fulu, and PeerDAS—but its most impactful feature is its resolution of one of Ethereum’s biggest challenges. North American stock markets largely recovered, particularly Tech, turning what was a scary correction into a small retracement since last week. Most Indices now hover close to their all-time highs, with the Nasdaq remaining the furthest from its peak, down a measly 2.30% from its end-October record. The December 10 FOMC cut is now a quasi-certainty, with a few bouts of lower data since last Thursday beginning to set the stage for another cut in January (currently priced at 27%). zoom_out_map …
