Bitcoin’s network just got a lot tougher to mine while its price took a hit. According to data from CoinWarz, mining difficulty climbed to a record 127.6 trillion this week. At the same time, Bitcoin fell by 3%, touching an intraday low of $113,005 before edging back to $113,250 by 7:30 pm ET. Mining Difficulty Hits All-Time High Based on analysis, difficulty will drop by roughly 3% on August 9, bringing it down to nearly 124 trillion. That adjustment follows a routine cycle every 2,016 blocks, or about two weeks, where the protocol tweaks how hard it is to mine a block. Difficulty makes sure blocks come out at a pace the system can handle. The challenge is tied to ho…

The price of Bitcoin started the weekend—and the new month—in the worst possible way after falling below the $115,000 mark on Friday, August 1. This price decline seems to be worsening, as the premier cryptocurrency now sits beneath the $113,000 level following United States President Donald Trump’s recent nuclear threat. This recent movement has sparked market-wide conversations about the possibility of Bitcoin already reaching the price top in the current cycle. However, the consensus seems to be that the price of BTC still has the potential to embark on at least another leg up before finally reaching its cycle peak. BTC Could Revisit Former Highs In Near Term: Analys…

After crashing below the $115,000 territory over the weekend, Bitcoin has reached an important level that could determine where the crypto market is headed next. Eventually, it comes down to the support levels and how much buying is going on to actually counter the effects of massive sell-offs that continue to drive down the price. However, if bulls are able to hold, then it could suggest there is enough momentum behind the cryptocurrency to push for new highs. Why Bitcoin Must Hold $100,000 In an analysis, crypto and market analyst MasterAnanda has pointed to the Bitcoin price already solidifying support that could help end the downtrend. Pointing to the current market …

Ethereum (ETH) is capturing market attention with signals of a potential breakout reminiscent of Bitcoin’s historic 2021 bull run. Analysts cite a combination of strong technical indicators, increasing ETF inflows, and intensified whale accumulation as key reasons Ethereum could soon outperform Bitcoin. ETH recently broke out of a classic falling wedge pattern, a technical setup often linked to trend reversals. This bullish formation, combined with multiple Relative Strength Index (RSI) taps, suggests Ethereum may be poised for a significant upward move. The RSI behavior mirrors Bitcoin’s movements in early 2021, before it surged to record highs. Adding to the bullish …

Crypto analyst Ripple Queen has made a bold prediction that the XRP price can reach $10,000 at some point. The analyst also highlighted factors that make this price target achievable despite how ambitious it is. XRP Price To $10,000 Is Already On The Horizon In an X post, Ripple Queen declared that an XRP price tag of $10,000 is already “locked in.” She claimed that the math proves that the altcoin can reach this target and then alluded to how its supply is limited and its utility is unmatched. The analyst added that the world is catching up fast, indicating that more people are adopting XRP. Ripple Queen further stated that regulatory clarity is falling into place f…

Markets just received the report for the monthly ISM Services PMI report, and despite a beat on the Global PMI report (55.1 vs 54.6 expected – less Market-moving), the more influent Services data missed by a decent margin. The data came in at 50.1, just at the brink of contraction territory and with the 51.5 consensus, Equity markets have started to show some signs of retraction. Reactions also point to some selling in the US Dollar after temporarily breaching the 99.00 handle – The DXY now trades back into the high 98.00 territory. We'll be taking a look at S&P 500 charts to see what's into play as the US Dollar and US Equity correlation is growing again. Read…

Log in to today's North American session recap for August 5, 2025. Yesterday's rally in equities was very strong and despite recovering beyond their pre-NFP levels, other assets had shown some discrepancies warranting caution. And these discrepancies did not lie, commodities like Oil and Gold traded the weekly open in lower economic outlook territory (Oil down, Gold up) and the same flows repeated today after the Miss in the US Services PMI – You can access the details of the report right here. It is always essential to look at the broad market picture to get an understanding of what the story of the day is, and yesterday's rebound in Equities really just seems to have…

The global iron ore market is in the midst of a major pricing shift, moving away from the long-standing 62% Fe benchmark toward a new 61% Fe specification. The change, driven by a gradual decline in ore grades and higher impurity levels, is reshaping both the physical and financial sides of the industry and raising big questions about how iron ore is valued. Why the change matters For decades, the 62% Fe grade served as the anchor for global pricing, with Pilbara Blend Fines (PBF) acting as the bellwether. But as mined grades have steadily dropped, the 62% benchmark no longer matches what is actually traded. The move to a 61% Fe baseline, effective from 2026, …

The crypto market remains under pressure as Bitcoin slipped below $115,000, testing key support levels and dragging sentiment lower. Ethereum also fell under $4,200, fueling a wave of volatility that led to more than $400 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours. As some believe Bitcoin may revisit $112K, others see this as a chance to accumulate specific altcoins like Chainlink (LINK). Whale 0x4EBD recently withdrew another 249,808 LINK ($6M) from Binance about 35 minutes ago, bringing his total withdrawals to 1,293,757 LINK ($31.15M) over the past four days making LINK one of the best of the altcoins to buy right now. The crypto market slid into the week in a holding pattern, with price action grinding sideways and positioning increasingly tethered to one catalyst: Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s remarks at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium. “The only big, big event is going to be this,” said analyst Josh Olszewicz in his August 18 Macro Monday stream. “Everybody’s going to be watching this, talking about this, analyzing this… What Jay says [on Friday]” will likely swing rate expectations and risk sentiment. The symposium runs August 21–23, 2025 in Wyoming, under the theme “Labor Markets in Transition: Demographics, Productivity, and Macroeconomic Policy,” a backdrop alm…

In a market update on August 19 titled “Key Altcoins To Watch Right Now,” crypto analyst Cryptoinsightuk argues that conditions are improving for a fresh leg higher in altcoins as Bitcoin dominance shows signs of easing. “The last few days and in the newsletter I’ve discussed my long-term thesis around Bitcoin dominance dropping [and] that altcoins are going to take the next leg up,” he said, adding that, at current levels across majors, “risk–reward for long positions is very good here.” He anchors the view in a recurring intraday structure he says is visible across Bitcoin and multiple large caps: a range forms, the lows are swept, the highs are swept, price returns to…

I don’t like the name Jackson Hole. It makes me feel like I’m forced to watch important events going on in a man’s … well, you know. It all sounds so ominous! More importantly, the Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Fed meeting is what started the great bear market of 2020, when Powell announced rate hikes, and now that might happen again. Last week, U.S. producer inflation (PPI) came out super high, rising another percentage point, which now puts the three-rate cut scenario by the end of the year in question. All risk assets are falling with BTC ▼-0.28% down 6.6% on the week and tech stocks like Palantir shaving off 20% and dragging the entire tech sector down. Here’s what else y…

Ethereum came close to breaking its all-time high this week, and the fallout was brutal for anyone betting against it. Around 259 million dollars in short positions were liquidated, along with another 80 million in long positions. That adds up to more than 340 million dollars in crypto liquidations in just 24 hours. Ethereum alone made up more than half of that total. Fed Hint Lights Up Crypto Markets The rally wasn’t random. It followed comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell suggesting that interest rate cuts could be on the horizon. Traders didn’t wait around. Ethereum surged almost 15 percent on the news and briefly climbed above 4,842 dollars. That’s within touching d…

Overview: The US dollar is extending yesterday's pullback after Monday's sharp rally. Monday's rally had met or approached several technical targets, but the momentum and news stream, including the downgrading of US recession forecasts, the pushing out of the next Fed rate cut into Q4 seemed to favor further dollar gains. Against many pairs, the greenback has given back all of Monday's gains or nearly so. The dollar is weaker against nearly all the world's currencies. The South Korean won has strengthened the most following talk that the currency was discussed in bilateral trade talks with the US. It is up nearly 1.8%, followed by the Japanese yen, which is up almost 1.2%…

Solana price analysis: Can bulls break above recent highs of $185? Year-to-date, 2025 has proven to be an interesting time for the crypto market, with Solana being no exception. Uber is now exploring stablecoins as a way to streamline its global payment system. That might sound surprising coming from a rideshare company, but when you’re dealing with money flowing through dozens of countries, faster and cheaper matters a lot. CEO Flags Stablecoins as a Potential Game-Changer At a recent Bloomberg tech summit, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the company is actively looking into stablecoins. Not Bitcoin. Not Ethereum. Just the boring, practical kind that are tied to real-world currencies. His reasoning is simple. When a company like Uber operates across 70-plus countries, every international payment comes with currency conversion fees, delays,…

Africa-focused Petra Diamonds (LON: PDL) has scrapped regular diamond tenders in favour of opportunistic sales as the market for rough stones continues to slump. The miner reported $53 million in sales from its fifth and sixth tenders of the year, covering production from its two South African mines. Petra will now report sales on a quarterly basis instead of following a fixed tender schedule. “In response to fluctuations in diamond prices and demand, the company no longer follows regular tender cycles and may postpone portions of tenders or sell goods as run-of-mine,” it said. The strategic pivot mirrors De Beers’ reported off-market sales of discounted diamo…
