British fintech and neobank Revolut is considering acquiring a US bank to accelerate its entry into the American market. According to a recent report by The Financial Times, published on 30 July 2025, Revolut is eyeing the acquisition of a nationally chartered bank that already holds a license. If this goes through, Revolut will be able to skip the often-lengthy procedure of acquiring a banking license from scratch. By shortening the process of securing an independent banking charter, Revolut will be able to simplify its lending capabilities in the American market. The report also indicates that the UK-based neobank is considering applying for its own US banking license…

Overview: Today marks the 54th anniversary of the end of the Bretton Woods agreement that pegged the dollar to gold and other currencies to the dollar. Nixon, who was regarded as among the most conservative presidents of his generation also announced a 90-day wage and price freeze and a 10% surcharge on imports. After some fits and starts, the modern era of floating exchange rates was introduced. Europe wanted little currency movement within its growing trade bloc and after several experiments failed, it opted for a single currency in the late 1990s. The incredible asymmetry of power at the end of WWII made Bretton Woods possible in the first place. The US appears to no l…

Log in to today's North American session Market wrap for August 20 Today's trading was a bit hectic, between a huge selloff in the Stocks that got met with some mean-reversion dip-buying (break-retest on the Nasdaq?), a dovish cut from the RBNZ sending the Kiwi slumping and some more turmoil at the Federal Reserve, Markets got some action. FED's Cook, one of the last reminder of Biden's appointee is being accused of Mortgage fraud, with US President Trump "gently" asking her to resign and is rumoured to be fired soon. …

Troilus Gold (TSX: TLG), which is developing a C$1.1 billion ($800 million) capex brownfield mine project in Quebec, has signed a preliminary copper offtake agreement with a German smelter during Prime Minister Mark Carney’s trade mission to Europe. The deal with Aurubis in Hamburg concerns a “significant amount” of Troilus’ future concentrate production at the self-named project though financial details weren’t given, the government said on Tuesday. It joins with other agreements on the trip. Quebec’s privately-held Torngat Metals is supplying rare earth oxides from its C$2 billion capex Strange Lake project to magnets producer Vacuumschmelze near Frankfurt. Ro…

Trump Media & Technology Group has announced a partnership with Crypto.com to form a new venture designed to accumulate large amounts of the exchange’s native token, CRO, making one of the best altcoin to buy. The company confirmed it will purchase $105 million worth of CRO (685,427,004 tokens) as part of a treasury-style investment strategy. This deal follows the playbook of Strategy (MicroStrategy), which made headlines by accumulating billions in Bitcoin starting in 2020. That move turned its balance sheet into a leveraged bet on crypto, ultimately boosting its valuation as Bitcoin soared. Trump Media is now attempting a similar approach but with CRO, underscoring…

British Columbia has approved Imperial Metals’ (TSX: III) plan to deepen and extend the Springer pit at the Mount Polley copper-gold mine, adding about eight more years. The decision comes after an August court ruling that upheld key permits challenged by an area First Nation. The consent order from Environment and Parks Minister Tamara Davidson, and Mining and Critical Minerals (MCM) Minister Jagrup Brar, lets the expansion move forward under a provincial Mines Act permit amendment. “We agree that any changes to the effects from the proposed Springer Expansion assessed under the Act would not be significant,” the ministers said in their reasons for the decision p…

Log in to today's North American session Market wrap for September 4. We can blabber all we want about the FED's independence and how it affects markets (in short, it really does, look at metals performance in the past two weeks), but the main idea is that Markets really are just messing around ahead of tomorrow's quintessential Non-Farm Payrolls. About the FED's independence, Stephen Miran, who is currently Chair of the Economic Advisers for the White House, testified as he will be starting to occupy the role left from the recently departed FED Governor Kugler. His testimony was interesting to say the least, very loyal to the Trump Administration's words. One of the m…

Savannah Resources (LON: SAV) is pushing back against media reports that cited a United Nations committee accusing Portuguese authorities of breaching international law during the approval process for the company’s Barroso lithium project. In a statement to MINING.COM on Friday, Savannah’s Communications Manager António Neves Costa said two of the public bodies named in the UN document have since clarified their positions, stressing that no step of the licensing process was carried out outside Portuguese law. Solana (SOL) is back in the spotlight after whale investors injected more than $1 billion into DeFi protocols, sparking a dramatic 500% surge in transaction activity across the network. Data from CoinShares shows that inflows in Q3 2025 reached $177 million, pushing year-to-date totals above $1.2 billion. This sharp rise has positioned Solana as one of the most liquid ecosystems for staking, lending, and DEX activity. One notable whale moved 20,000 SOL from Kraken into Kamino Finance, later borrowing $3 million in USDC for leveraged positions on OKX. This reflects how institutional-scale players are increasingly using Solana’s DeFi ecosystem without selling off their c…

It is evident that even after the weak US labor market data—which points to a possible rate cut by the Federal Reserve—there was no sharp or explosive demand for Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency assets. This suggests that the market correction is not yet complete, and we are likely to see trading within a channel, with a gradual renewal of weekly lows. In the worst-case scenario, sell-offs will be sharp and rather significant. Investors appeared to ignore the potentially dovish signal from the Federal Reserve, which is usually seen as a positive for risk assets, including cryptocurrencies. There are several possible reasons for such a muted reaction. Firstly, the crypto m…

Vanguard is finally starting to take crypto seriously. The company is considering a move that would let its customers trade crypto ETFs directly from its platform. This is a big deal for a firm that’s always been cautious about digital assets. While other major players have already embraced crypto ETFs, Vanguard has held off until now. That hesitation might be coming to an end. Why Vanguard Might Be Reconsidering The pressure has been building. Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have pulled in over 70 billion dollars, and a lot of that interest is coming from everyday investors. People are no longer waiting around for approval from traditional institutions. They want a…

This drop represents a major 76% decrease from the fervor of early summer. Crypto Treasury Firms Valuation Sinks The broader cryptocurrency market has faced additional challenges, with Bitcoin experiencing nearly a 6% decline over the past week, exacerb…

The price action of Dogecoin in the past 48 hours have seen it finally break below the $0.2 mark after a whole week of bullish investors trying to hold above the $0.22 support level. However, this break below the $0.22 support has cascaded into a string of selloffs that eventually pushed Dogecoin below $0.2. The mood was further complicated by a recent on-chain development of a massive inflow of Dogecoin into crypto exchange Coinbase that has raised eyebrows across the crypto community. 312 Million Dogecoin Moved Into Crypto Exchange Coinbase According to data from blockchain monitoring platform Whale Alert, three large Dogecoin transactions were recorded in rapid succ…

A fresh XRP/BTC chart released on 12 June by the market technician known as Dr. Cat has injected new controversy into one of crypto’s most stubborn trading pairs. The analyst, posting to X, argues that despite a bruising six-week slide, conditions still favour an eventual breakout for XRP that would leave Bitcoin lagging. He assigns the scenario a formidable 70 percent probability. XRP Vs. Bitcoin: 70% Chance Of Breakout, But When? At the heart of Dr. Cat’s thesis is the 2,041-satoshi level, where three separate Ichimoku timeframes—monthly, bi-monthly and tri-monthly—intersect. “The price keeps eating support after support with no reaction from bulls at all as if support…
